Let’s flashback to June 30, 1995.  My best friend and I purchased our first concert tickets that we would go see by ourselves, without parental supervision.  I was 16 years old, and so excited and happy to be able to experience Monster Magnet with Corrosion of Conformity at the Vic Theatre in Chicago.  I had seen a couple concerts before, but both were larger scale shows (Stone Temple Pilots way up in the nosebleed seats, and a classic rock festival out in the lawn).  This motherfucker was up close and personal, my friend and I were up super close to the stage and experienced live music the way it should be.  The lights went dim, a huge projector screen came down showing a syringe flying through space, eventually injecting itself into the earth, colors getting vivid and psychedelic, and then the music came on.  Holy shit, seeing this show started me on my journey of seeing as many bands live as I could, and what better way than with Monster Magnet touring touring for their “Dopes to Infinity” album.  This is definitely up in my top 5 favorite albums of all time.  Every track on this album is a banger.  I still reminisce seeing the video for “Negasonic Teenage Warhead” on MTV and being completely enamored by the stoner rock sound that I was missing from my life at that time.  Shit, back then I was still listening to a lot of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc.  Dopes was a great change of pace whenever I did not feel like thrashing around.  The droney vibes of “Blow ‘em Off”…  The powerful riffage of “Look to your orb for the warning”…  This album has a song for all moods.  Oh and it is a rather interesting journey if you happen to be picking mushrooms in the forest.  🙂  5 out of 5 goat heads for sure.

Wraz z moim najlepszym przyjacielem kupiliśmy nasze pierwsze bilety na koncert, który moglibyśmy zobaczyć sami, bez nadzoru rodziców.  Miałem 16 lat i byłem bardzo podekscytowany i szczęśliwy, że mogłem zobaczyć Monster Magnet z Corrosion of Conformity w Vic Theatre w Chicago.  Widziałem wcześniej kilka koncertów, ale oba były na większą skalę (Stone Temple Pilots wysoko w zakrwawionych fotelach i klasyczny festiwal rockowy na trawniku).  Ten sukinsyn był blisko, mój przyjaciel i ja byliśmy bardzo blisko sceny i doświadczyliśmy muzyki na żywo tak, jak powinno się to robić.  Światła przygasły, zszedł ogromny ekran projektora, pokazując strzykawkę lecącą w kosmosie, która w końcu wstrzyknęła się w ziemię, kolory stały się żywe i psychodeliczne, a potem włączyła się muzyka.  O cholera, zobaczenie tego koncertu zapoczątkowało moją przygodę z zobaczeniem na żywo tylu zespołów, ile mogłem, i nie ma lepszego sposobu niż koncertowanie w trasie  Monster Magnet z albumem „Dopes to Infinity”.  To zdecydowanie jest w moich 5-ciu ulubionych albumach wszechczasów.  Każdy utwór na tym albumie to zajebisty.  Wciąż wspominam oglądanie teledysku do „Negasonic Teenage Warhead” na MTV i całkowite zauroczenie rockowym brzmieniem, którego wtedy brakowało w moim życiu.  Cholera, wtedy wciąż słuchałem dużo Metalliki, Megadeth, Slayera itp. Dopes to świetna zmiana tempa, kiedy nie miałem ochoty się rzucać.  Droney wibracje „Blow’ em Off ”… Potężny riffing„ Look to your orb for the warning ”… Ten album zawiera piosenkę na każdy nastrój.  Aha i jest to dość ciekawa podróż, jeśli zdarzy Ci się zbierać grzyby w lesie.  Na pewno 5 z 5 głów kozich.
